Joshua, through God's mighty power, defeated multiple kingdoms of the north (after defeating the southern kingdoms).I don't understand war, but I do believe in evil. I can imagine that some towns, cities, states, countries could be filled with only evil. I would pray that there would be at least one good person there - but imagine if it was like contaminated crops. What if no one escaped the contamination?

This chapter of Joshua continues giving a recap of the distribution of land. It's fascinating to me for two reasons: 1) I've never owned property so I can only imagine how it would feel for my descendants to read about land I passed on to them; and 2) I have to imagine that there are descendants from the tribes of Judah who are still living today and can read about land that was bequeathed to them before Jesus was born. Wow.
