S1 Ep143 - Matthew 21

So many notable things happen in this chapter. Jesus comes to Jerusalem as a king, on the back of a donkey with palm leaves being laid before him. He overturned tables in the temple courts because they were in there doing business instead of it being a house of prayer.
He cursed a fig tree and it withered immediately. (Verses 18-22) These verses always remind me not to be unproductive or ignore my purpose.
The parable of the tenants (verses 33-46) is convicted the chief priests and the Pharisees. They knew he was talking about them.-----

S1 Ep144 - Matthew 22

Jesus shares the greatest commandment in this chapter: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Verses 37-40)-----

In chapter 23, Jesus goes off on hypocrisy and the Pharisees. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!”-----

To illustrate that the day and hour are unknown, Jesus shares the parable of the 10 virgins. Five were foolish and five were wise.
He also shares the parable of the talents – my favorite parable – which has to do with being productive with what we’ve been entrusted with – wealth, gifts, talents, intelligence, etc. -----

S1 Ep148 - Matthew 26

Judas agrees to betray Jesus in this chapter. At the Last Supper, Jesus calls him out for it, but of courses he denies it.
Speaking of denial, Jesus predicts that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows. We see it happen before the end of the chapter.
The account of Jesus at Gethsemane is always a hard read. He asks his disciples to pray for Him but they keep falling asleep. 
Jesus is arrested and his friends scatter.-----

At the beginning of this chapter, Judas is overcome with guilt. He tries to return the money but it’s too late. He hangs himself in verse 5.
In this heart-breaking chapter, Jesus is crucified, dies and is buried.-----

S1 Ep150 - Matthew 28

Thankfully, Jesus has risen in chapter 28. The Marys go to look at that tomb but it’s empty.
I never realized that “some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’” (Shady!)
Still, the 11 disciples went to Galilee and saw Jesus. He gave them the Great Commission – “go and make disciples f all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”-----

S1 Ep151 - Nahum 1

The book of Nahum is a prophecy concerning Nineveh. It is a vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
Nineveh is the same city that Jonah didn’t want to warn because he knew God would have mercy on them.
In chapter one, He is super angry against Nineveh. Verse 7 and 8 say, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.

In chapter two it says that Nineveh is going to fall. Verse 8 is particularly hard: “Nineveh is like a pool whose water is draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back.”-----
